On September 20, the Lee County Board of Supervisors voted to allow privatized landfills in Lee County despite much vocal opposition from local residents.

Concerns surrounding privatized landfills include:

*LOWER PROPERTY VALUES
*HAZARDOUS WATER AND AIR POLLUTION
*DANGER TO LOCAL WILDLIFE
*DISRUPTION TO SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES
